short film
The animated short film will combine different media and techniques to create stunning and magical visuals.
John Stevenson (Director of Kung Fu Panda) once advised me that 'Story is King'. I have therefore spent a great deal of time working on a strong story because good concepts are always a priority. Below are some of the production stills.

Models and textures
The characters have been modeled in quads. The textures have been photographed for a more realistic look and feel.
rigging
A stretchy ribbon spine has been used for the characters since it allows for greater animation control. It is a good alternative for the IK spline spine.
Multi-joint clavicles that automatically follow arm movements (both IK and FK) have been built. A stretchy IK leg with a pole vector constraint was opted for rather than a leg that operates without flipping. Hands, Finges, Feet, Toes, the Neck and Head were all manually rigged. However, in some instances I used MEL scripts to help speed up the rigging process. Animated controls that can be easily selected were made. The rig components have been put into a final hierarchy.

Animation
The old style of cartoon animation techniques that prioritize exaggeration will be combined with newer techniques that are more subtle. This blend of styles should be a good experiment. A good reference of this style can be seen in Presto (short film by Pixar).
lighting, rendering and compositing
CGI elements will be combined with photographed elements to blend different media.
